New York Yankees pitcher Aaron Small allowed one infield hit over four scoreless innings Monday in his second extended spring training start. The right-hander, on the 15-day disabled list with a hamstring injury, struck out four in a 48-pitch outing against Philadelphia minor leaguers. Relief pitcher Felix Heredia, released by the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday, signed a minor league contact Tuesday with the Cleveland Indians. Chien-Ming Wang was struck on the right knee by a one-hopper and left Sunday's game against the Tigers in the top of the third inning. He was taken to a local hospital for X-rays, which were negative. "No problem," said Wang when asked if would start as scheduled in Arizona on Friday. |

Atlanta Braves closer Chris Reitsma strained his left hamstring Monday night and failed to make it through the ninth inning of a 5-4 victory over the New York Yankees. Reitsma was in obvious discomfort after throwing a pitch that Luis Garcia hit for a two-out single in the ninth. The right-hander got a visit on the mound from manager Bobby Cox and came out of the game. The Braves are counting on Reitsma to anchor a questionable bullpen. |

Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson testified Tuesday when the New York Yankees pushed their proposal for a new $800 million ballpark before a City Council subcommittee. Jackson, who acts as an adviser to the Yankees, said he'd had his share of fights with owner George Steinbrenner. There are 26 players under major league contract with RHP Octavio Dotel on the sidelines recovering from elbow surgery. Once he returns to action, in late May or June, some shuffling in the bullpen will take place.
